Cockermouth bakery forced to shut after November floods

A BAKERY on Cockermouth’s Main Street has closed following the November floods.
Lakes Bakes will continue as a delivery business after owner Elaine Routledge set up the service in January.
The bakery’s former Main Street premises will be offered to businesses for rent once flood restoration work has been completed.
The delivery service is based in Dovenby and Mrs Routledge delivers to a lot of large factories, including James Walker in Cockermouth.
She said: “The delivery service is taking up a lot of my time so I have decided to concentrate my efforts on that.
“It was a difficult decision to give up the shop on Main Street. I had a lot of loyal customers and it is a shame that we had to close down.”
Mrs Routledge added that she wanted to thank her customers for their support over the years and would miss them all.
