Double-decker bus to be converted into a burger van in Cockermouth

Cockermouth burger seller Brian Shaw is converting a double-decker bus into a fast food van

Mr Shaw, 44, of Bellbrigg Lonning, bought the bus after seeing it at a charity event in Grange-over-Sands and deciding he wanted a change from the way he sold burgers.

Mr Shaw, who has been in catering for about 15 years and works with his partner Alison Holliday, said: “The bus stands out so I am hoping people will want to come and see what we have on offer.

“It already has chairs installed upstairs, as it was used for charity events, so people can sit inside while they eat – which again is different from a normal burger van.

“The bus already has most of the cooking equipment in so we just need to install the gas and electric.”

He will sell mainly burgers, crisps and a selection of soft drinks from his bus and plans to set it up in the next month or so at his existing pitches, next to the Sheep and Wool Centre at the Lamplugh Road roundabout and the Low Road roundabout, on the entrance into the town, at weekends.
