Let us show the world we are recovering
THE only message that has been coming out of Cockermouth for the last few months is that the town is open for business
When the floods hit in November all that was broadcast on our TV screens and on the internet was a broken town that was suffering in the aftermath of the worst flooding in living memory.
That is far from the case now.
We have been saying the phrase 'open for business' on an almost daily basis but it is important that we do so to show the world that Cockermouth is fighting back from those dark days in November and that the fantastic way the town has recovered is kept in the media spotlight.
After the bridges reopening last week and the news of more and more shops opening up weekly Cockermouth should well and truly be throbbing with tourists again by the summer.
This was topped off with the visit of Prince Charles yesterday, who kept his promise to return to the town. To see hundreds of people waving and cheering shows the town has fought back from the floods in one of the best ways possible.
We must continue to do our best to attract people back into the town and keep the message that Cockermouth is open for business as usual.
