Lottery windfall for Gilcrux hall’s revamp
Last updated at 13:28, Friday, 29 May 2009
Plans to revamp Gilcrux’s village hall will be realised with a £399,000 lottery windfall.
Building work can now begin next January to refurbish the existing village hall including installing a multi-media meeting room, a new kitchen and a glass-fronted entrance which will also serve as a youth shelter.
James Blackwell of the Gilcrux Village Hall and Educational Trust said: “Our plans are to renovate the hall whilst retaining its character and to make it extremely energy efficient.
“The aim is to create a space that will bring the community together and create a sustainable building that supports the environment.”
The trust has worked with the community to match fund the lottery grant.
Fundraising activities included the auction of a trip for two to Prince Charles’s home at Highgrove, for a tour of the garden.
